Week 1- Jump into this class of color as award winning artist, Desiree Habicht, shows you how you can use colored pencils, watercolor pencils and Derwent Inktense pencils to liven up any quilt. Paint your own designs and create wonderful resists in her class, Art Applique. You will learn how to blend, create textures and even create the look of marble and more! The best part is that no artistic training is required, she will gently lead you through this amazing process. This technique seals the color into the fiber, making the pieces completely washable and permanent! You will create several pieces during the week that you will love. You will also learn how you can use this technique many different ways on a multitude of surfaces and projects!

Week 2- Is free motion wild ride with Fiber Artist, author and Quilting Arts regular, Candy Glendening! Together you and Candy will be exploring free motion quilting! You will be creating quilted pages of fun designs and then putting them together in a book form for future reference. This creative week with Candy and your sewing machine will open up the wonderful world of free motion quilting to you and help you build a library of ideas and designs for your future art quilts. Candy will take the fear out of letting go and bring the fun into free motion! (These will also make great fiber coloring pages for what you learn in Desiree's Class)

Week 3- Create your own story with Fiber Artist, author and Liz Kettle! Her class for this session is called "Layers of Meaning" Collage anthologies are wonderful stories of us. We take bits of our history, the minutia of our daily lives, snips of memories, moments in time and lay them out to tell our story. We will use fabric, images, paper, stitch and our hearts to tell our unique story.You will create 3 or 4 beautiful mixed media collages that make up your book…share your history…tell your story.
We will explore fabric and paper image transfer techniques (including one developed by Liz), learn how to combine fabric, paper and other textures into the luscious layers of an intricate collage. We will play with new materials, paint, heat tools and mixed media techniques. Stitching and embellishments are important to telling our personal story and a whole lot of fun! I have a plethora of embellishing techniques to share with you to help make your story come alive.

Week 4- Join Roxane Lessa, as she leads you into the world of applique and painting fabric in her class "I'm NO Morning Glory". No need to fear, with Roxane's expert teaching style and assistance you will love your results. You will be creating this beautiful Morning Glory flower quilt made up of no more than 3 fused fabrics, then she teachs you how to use small amounts of paint to add value contrast and depth, creating a realistic small quilt top. She even provides suggestions for quilting, framing, etc. Its about value, balance, and scale and how to put it altogether in a great design.
Week 5- BONUS -Catch up WEEK
Join the artists for a Bonus week filled with all sorts of bonus projects, ideas, and helpful hints on all sorts of topics. We will help you learn how to fill out entry forms to get your quilts into those shows, what do the judges look for etc. We will have bonus projects and techniques for you to discover. It is also an opportunity for you to submit your big questions at anytime during the week to any of the artists and we will be answering them for you. It's your time to ask away and really pick the brains of the featured artists! This is also a great opportunity for you to catch up or work on any unfinished projects.
We also will be having a special guest this week, Morna McEver Golletz! Morna is the founder and CEO of the International Association of Creative Arts Professionals. For more than two decades she has been helping women and some cool men craft successful businesses from their passions in the creative arts. Morna has agreed to offer our students a special webinar called Starving Artists No More: 7 Steps to a Profitable Creative Arts Career. This offer is only available to our students and she is also going to offer a bonus follow up call for anyone interested in working with her to help launch their art businesses. These are a few of the amazing things that are going to be taking place during Bonus Week!!

Week 6- Explore the world of "Japanese Boro- the Art of the Tattered Rag" with Fiber Artist, Ruth Chandler. The word Boro, is Japanese for “tattered rags”. Creating your own Boro artwork connects us with a time when fabric was precious and hard to find. Each of us has a few fabric pieces that are precious to us waiting for just the right place to be used. They may be bits from a treasured garment or from our family heritage.In this workshop we will explore modern applique, hand stitching, and discover the joy of giving fabrics a new purpose in a work of art.

Week 7- Join Mixed Media and Fiber Artist, Cecile Whatman as she teaches you how to work with different elements to create stunning Fiber Art! It Cecile's class, "Wild Surface Design- Riverbed", she will walk you through everything you need to know to create your own, fabulous art piece. In this class, students will build a beautiful, organic riverbed scene using laminate silk fibre, wool felt, tyvek etc. You will learn Cecile's techniques on how to create your own fabric and how to create a unique, realistic design. You can then further develop your quilt with beads, embroidery, quilting and charms.

Week 8- Join Fiber artist, Deborah Babin as she leads you into the layered world of painted fabrics in her class, Zen Wreath-Mixed Media. Learn how to paint interfacings, silk organza and even tissue paper to create mysterious layers that produce spectacular results. Color washes and Deborah's layering techniques will help you bring a new depth and dimension into your own art quilts. You will be creating this beautiful little floral wreath quilt that you can add to and make your own!

Week 9- Come along with fiber artist and author, Rayna Gillman and set yourself free as she teaches you how to create without a pattern in her class "Endless Designs with Strips and Squares". Its a free-form class with endless possibilities. Rayna is the queen of intuitive quilting, nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2010 by Professional Quilter Magazine. She will encourage you to use "what if" as your guide to create one-of-a-kind blocks and original quilts. Make it modern with solids or whimsical and contemporary with any fabrics in your stash. Either way you will love playing and creating this 12" x 12" mini art piece during class.
Week 10- This is our Closing Day and Celebration of all that was accomplished during the week. I will have a place to show off the projects that were made in class over the last few months. Don't miss out on all the fun as we will be here for you with any last minute help or answers to questions. We want you to know how special you are and how your talent needs to be shared. By adding techniques to your tool box of abilities you have a larger range of possibilities for telling your own story!
